To kick off the tour, we met up with our guide and the rest of our small group at the Parc de la Bouzaize in Beaune, where we picked our rental bike and helmet. The staff were really helpful, assisting us with the bike that works best for each of us, as well as properly-fitted helmets.

After our first tasting, we made our way to a local eatery to recharge and replenish with some local dishes while chatting about our experience so far. In the afternoon, we pedaled along while appreciating the scenery until arriving at Pommard for another tasting of world-renowned wines.
They also give you the alternative of visiting Volnay or Meursault, but this tour did a great job of offering an immersive, complete experience of what makes Burgundy so respected in the wine world!

I liked that the tour started so early, allowing us to really take advantage of the entire day and fit in many different stops throughout.
We met our guide a bit before 8 am in central Paris, which was really easy to access through the Metro from our hotel. Upon arrival, we headed onto our air-conditioned van with the rest of our group, which ended up being another couple who we befriended quickly.
The ride out to the countryside was so relaxing and beautiful, with the big windows allowing for unobstructed views of the charming countryside on the way to Chablis.

Once we arrived, we went right to a beautiful estate to learn all about how to read and identify French wine labels, the different terroirs and what makes theirs special, along with Burgundy grape varieties.
As a history buff, I also appreciated them teaching us all about the history of the Knights Templar and Cistercian monks, and how they interestingly tie back to the local wine heritage!
After walking around the lovely village, we had a surprise tasting of something aside from wine (don’t want to spoil the secret!) and then made our way to another typical village in Burgundy.
Here, we got to learn how their ancient grape varieties are grown, and what they taste like in their famous wines paired with delicious cheeses and cold cuts! After that, we took a well-deserved lunch break to fill up before trying the area’s amazing Pinot Noir wines – I couldn’t ask for a better day!
